AI-Generated Logo Problems — and How to Fix Them
AI image generators produce stunning logo concepts. But the files are unusable as brand assets. Here are the six flaws I fix in nearly every AI logo — and what the proper fix looks like.
1. Garbled lettering
AI doesn’t understand typography — it imitates the look of letters. Zoom in and words dissolve into decorative squiggles or misspellings. There’s no filter for this: the lettering must be rebuilt with real fonts, properly kerned and spaced.
2. Wobbly, inconsistent curves
AI edges look smooth at a glance but wobble under magnification — fatal for a logo that must work at signage scale. Manual redrawing replaces guesswork with deliberate bezier curves.
3. Details that change across the image
Mascots with mismatched eyes, ornaments that morph from one side to the other. A brand mark needs one definitive version of every detail — established by a human making decisions.
4. No editable structure
You get a flat PNG: no layers, no separated elements, no color control. Want the icon without the text? A single-color version? You’re stuck. A proper vector rebuild delivers organized, layered, editable masters.
5. Color chaos
AI blends dozens of near-identical shades. Professional logos use deliberate, limited palettes — consolidated during the rebuild, with full-color, black and reversed versions created systematically.
6. Unproducible fine detail
AI loves intricate detail that embroidery machines, wax seals and small-size print simply can’t reproduce. Part of the rebuild is knowing what to simplify — and discussing it with you first.
The fix: manual vector redraw
Every one of these problems has the same solution — a designer redraws the approved concept by hand as genuine vector artwork. The concept’s character survives; the flaws don’t. See how it worked for Paper & Pause’s AI mascot.
